This is hilarious. I’m reading this book now (it was a Kindle Daily Deal yesterday) and thinking those same things!

I really love the overview of the culture/region, but I really struggled with some of his explinations (excuses?) for certain behaviors. Regardless of one’s politics, I thougth it was odd when he said that his townfolk didn’t have a problem with our current president because of his skin color, but rather because of his elite education and upbringing, but that arguement makes no sense. Our previous presidents have come from the same upper-middle class/upper class lifestyles, so I don’t see why that would be an issue this time around, unless there was another factor. Details like this just didn’t add up for me and felt like justifications…
